Charles Soothill is a mechanical engineer and technology leader in the field of energy for more than 40 years.
He has recently retired as the Head of Technology for Sulzer Rotating Equipment Services in Switzerland, where he brought innovation to the servicing of existing infrastructure. Previously, he served as a technology leader with GE and Alstom. As Chief Technology Officer, he was responsible for the development of the full range of power generation technologies. He is a leader and advocate for the development and implementation of Carbon Capture and Storage to reduce the emissions of CO2 to the atmosphere. The aim is to allow continued economic activity while meeting climate goals.
He was instrumental in the foundation of the Zero Emissions Platform in 2005, and is a Vice Chairman of the Zero Emissions Platform, recently renamed Carbon Management Europe, a multi-stakeholder group on Emissions reduction and emissions-related energy policy.
