Co-Chair, CDR Working Group

Omar Zin Abidine, EMEA Engagement Partner at Carbon Engineering, serves as a co-chair of the CDR Working Group at Carbon Management Europe.

There, he plays a role in guiding agendas and discussions between the secretariat and members on CDR topics in support of Europe’s climate neutrality goals. In his position, he collaborates with policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers to advance evidence-based and science-backed positions for scaling evolving CDR technologies. Alongside the other co-chairs, Omar helps coordinate the working group’s activities, facilitates dialogue among diverse stakeholders, and contributes to the development of technical reports and policy recommendations.

Some key areas Omar has been involved in include supporting Carbon Management Europe’s position on the integration of removals into the EU ETS and providing expert input into the EU’s Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACCS) methodologies under the Carbon Removal and Carbon Farming (CRCF) certification framework. By helping align scientific insight with policy and industry perspectives, Omar supports Carbon Management Europe’s mission to accelerate the development of net-zero solutions across Europe.

Omar has been working at Carbon Engineering, a DAC technology company, for 5 years. There, he works primarily on policy and business development across Europe and the Middle East. Omar is skilled in developing novel policy positions, engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, and supporting the growth of decarbonisation solutions across the region.
